OCHS monitors and manages the quality and standards of its academic and non-academic provision through an institutional framework of bylaws, policies, procedures, guidelines, manuals and code of practice that sets out the expectations of its stakeholders. The Directorate of Quality oversees the development, implementation and periodic review of all the policies and regulations.

OCHS ensures the quality of its educational programs and that its academic standards are set at the appropriate level. OCHS aims to offer programs that enable students to develop knowledge and skills that demonstrate students have attained the learning outcomes and the levels appropriate to their award. OCHS curriculums are designed to make a positive contribution to the community and are valued by all stakeholders. OCHS ensures that all its programs adhere to national standards and are listed on Oman’s National Register of Qualifications.  The Directorate of Quality supports programs in this endeavor.

At the governance level, OCHS is governed by the Board of Trustees and the Academic Board. At the management level, OCHS has a number of Councils and Committees each at the College level, program level and branch levels that are responsible for maintaining academic standards and quality.

OCHS Council – reports to the Academic Board and has overall responsibility for ensuring academic standards and, quality assurance and enhancement matters. This also includes responsibility for academic regulations. All regulatory bylaws are considered by this committee before approval by the Academic Board.

Program Councils – each Program Council is responsible for the teaching, learning and assessment matters within the programs and are responsible to ensure academic standards for their programs and reports to the OCHS Council.

Quality Assurance Committee – reports to the OCHS Council and has the overall responsibility for quality assurance and enhancement matters across the College and its branches.

Teaching and Learning Committee - reports to the OCHS Council and has the overall responsibility for teaching, learning and assessments across the College and its branches.

College Research Committee - reports to the OCHS Council and has the overall responsibility for research and innovation across the College and its branches.

Monitoring and review at OCHS is ensured through the process of internal audit to provide the assurance that the College operations are compliant with its own policies, procedu​res ​​and regulations. Internal Audit Reports are confidential within the College and not shared publicly​.

The internal audit function is planned and overseen by the Directorate of Quality and gives internal quality assurance to the governance and management bodies. The internal audit typically covers the following areas.

  • Student Affairs
  • Risk Assessment

The Directorate of Quality has oversight of accreditation activities of national and internal bodies. The Directorate of Quality ensures that the requirements of regulatory bodies are integrated into the College processes.

The Oman Academic accreditation Authority and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA) is the national quality assurance authority for higher educational institutions in Oman. OCHS aims to get accredited by OAAAQA

Student engagement plays a central role and OCHS places value on student input into its decision making processes ensuring that student voice is heard. Effective student engagement with quality processes is achieved through

  • student representation in relevant management bodies 
  • informal feedback
