    About Student Exchange

The Student Exchange Program at Oman College of Health Sciences (OCHS) gives OCHS bachelor students the chance to spend a period of study or training at a partner university abroad, and welcomes students from partner institutions to join OCHS programs in Oman. In line with the College's 2026–2040 Strategic Plan and Oman Vision 2040, the program broadens students' academic and clinical experience, builds their intercultural and professional skills, and prepares them to practise in multicultural, technologically advanced, and evidence-based health environments. Exchanges are organised through signed exchange agreements and the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (KA171) framework. The program is coordinated by the OCHS International Cooperation Unit under the supervision of the Deanship.

     Frequently Asked Questions

OCHS bachelor students who have completed at least 30 credit hours of their study plan with a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher, and who have no disciplinary sanctions, can apply when an opportunity is announced. Students from partner institutions who meet equivalent conditions can apply after being nominated by their home institution.

Yes. Before you travel, your Academic Program Director approves the courses you will study abroad in a Learning Agreement. Courses you complete successfully are recognised and transferred to your OCHS academic record. The exchange period counts within the maximum study duration of your program.

OCHS does not cover the costs of the exchange unless the signed agreement states otherwise, although OCHS students continue to receive their approved College allowance during the exchange. Students selected under Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility may receive a contribution towards travel and living costs. The amount depends on the destination, duration, and funding rules, so please read each announcement carefully and do not assume every expense will be covered.

Opportunities for OCHS students are announced through the College's official channels, such as the website and email, with the deadline stated in each announcement. For incoming students, nominations are due by the end of June for the Fall semester and the end of November for the Spring semester, and applications by the end of July and the end of December respectively. Guidance sessions are held in September and January.

It is the part of the European Union's Erasmus+ programme (Key Action 171) that funds study, teaching, and training exchanges between European universities and partner institutions outside Europe. Oman takes part as a non-associated partner country in Region 7, alongside the other GCC countries, Iran, Iraq, and Yemen. Opportunities depend on approved projects, available funding, and agreements between the partner institutions.

A Learning Agreement is signed by the student, the home institution, and the host institution before the exchange begins. It lists the courses the student will take abroad and how they will be recognised at home. Any later changes must be agreed and signed by all three parties.

No. You may apply for only one opportunity in each call cycle, so choose the one that best fits your program and goals.

No. OCHS nominates the selected students to the host institution, which makes the final decision. Selection results are usually announced within 30 days of the application deadline.

You must meet the language requirement for teaching or training at the host institution, as stated in the announcement. Many partner universities teach in English, and Erasmus+ participants can use the EU's free Online Linguistic Support (OLS) platform to improve their language skills before and during the exchange.
